DUKE ENERGY UPDATE:
Duke Energy has been on island this morning to re-energize the power throughout the island. As of this afternoon, despite attempts to power up the island, there are 122 homes that still remain without power due to transformers still submerged under floodwaters. Flooding in the areas of Stede Bonnet and Edward Teach Wynd and their secondary roads remain deep with floodwater effecting Duke’s ability to make necessary repairs.
Village Utilities, after completing their assessment for today have 83 homes (some of which may be included within the 122 homes without power, exact number TBD), that are still not on the sewer system due to submerged grinder pumps.
There will be further updates to come later this afternoon including the specific addresses of those homes that remain uninhabitable.
