DUKE ENERGY UPDATE:
As of approximately 1:45 p.m. this afternoon, the Village EOC Team, working in coordination with BHI Club Maintenance personnel and Duke Energy field crews were able to isolate the primary power line that feeds the golf course irrigation distribution system.
The Club’s ability to pump lagoon water through the golf course irrigation distribution system to strategic locations where the Village can either pump it off island (i.e. emergency outfalls) and/or release it by gravity flow to Bald Head Creek through the creek outfall can be accomplished…, in fact, this is how the two systems have worked previously over the years in removing floodwater.
The Village’s ability in getting floodwaters lowered in areas still deep with water has been greatly improved today with the teamwork & cooperation of all three organizations and is one step closer in getting this island back to the way we remembered it before the storm.
While Duke was able to isolate the three-phase power line to the irrigation distribution system, the current and on-going issues the Village still face in terms of the remaining power infrastructure and getting power to individual homes continues to be an issue which we are working hard to fix.
AT THIS TIME, DUKE ENERGY POWER HAS STILL NOT BEEN RESTORED TO THE ISLAND BUT WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE CONNECTIONS THAT ARE PART OF THE LINE TO THE CLUB IRRIGATION SYSTEM.
