Steps for Insured
- Please take photos of the damage and write down any contents that were lost.
- Make the necessary repairs to prevent further damage to the house, including covering breaks or holes in the roof, walls or windows with plywood, canvas or other waterproof material. Do not allow permanent repairs without first consulting your insurance adjuster/agent. Unauthorized repairs may not be reimbursed. If household furnishings are exposed to weather, move them to a safe location for storage. Save receipts for what you spend and submit them to your insurance company for reimbursement.
- Keep all receipts for monetary expenses used to store items or used for additional living expenses.
- Call and email your agent to file the claim. You may also call the carrier directly. You should be able to locate the 1-800 number in your policy.
